There's a point every year when I can really feel the Wheel beginning to turn. The days are getting shorter (😢), the trees are beginning to shed, and I always notice a subtle shift in the collective energy.
And if we pay attention, we may notice that shift within ourselves too. Fall can bring with it a desire to retreat a little. To spend more time at home, become more selective about where we put our energy, tend to our altars, cook something comforting, or just rest more.
As witches, we have the Wheel of the Year (for those who follow it) to remind us that not every season is meant for outward movement. There are times for expansion and action, and there are times for slowing down. There are times to set intentions and create, and there are times to release, rest, and prepare.
Mabon sits right at that threshold. It’s a season of balance, but not necessarily the kind of balance where everything stays perfectly even. (Does that even exist?) It’s the balance of light and dark, of giving and receiving, of holding on and letting go, and of recognizing what we've cultivated while also making peace with what has reached the end of its season.
And as many of us begin spending more time within our homes, there’s another kind of magick worth exploring: our relationship with the spaces we live in.
Our homes have their own energy. They witness our lives, hold our memories, are a haven for our rituals, and can become part of our everyday magickal practice.
That’s where my two September mini classes come in. You didn't think I planned these things willy nilly, did you?
CONNECTING WITH YOUR HOUSE SPIRIT
Wednesday, September 9
6:30pm - 7:30pm ET on Zoom
Have you ever walked into a house or building and immediately felt like it had a personality?
Maybe some spaces feel welcoming and warm, while others feel unsettled or just… off. Many magickal traditions have ways of understanding the spirit or energy of a home, and developing a relationship with that presence can become a meaningful part of your practice.
In Connecting With Your House Spirit, we’ll explore what a house spirit is, ways you might connect with yours, and practical ways to begin building a relationship with the spirit of your home.
It’s a lovely practice for this time of year, when our often attention naturally begins moving back toward the hearth and the home.

MABON RITUALS
Monday, September 14
6:30pm - 7:30pm ET on Zoom
Mabon gives us an opportunity to pause at the balance point of the year and consciously mark the transition into the darker half.
In Mabon Rituals, we’ll explore several ways to celebrate and work with the energies of the season, including gratitude, harvest, abundance, balance, release, and preparing for what comes next.
These aren’t complicated rituals that require a dozen ingredients or an entire afternoon. They’re practical ways to bring the season into your actual magickal practice.
Click here to join and/or receive the replay.
And, as always, you don’t have to be at a mini class live. Mini classes are recorded, and everyone who registers will receive the replay afterward. So if September is already looking chaotic for you, you can still sign up and watch when you have the time.
As we move into this new season, maybe take a little time to notice where your attention is going. What are you wanting to tend? What are you ready to release? What would make your home feel more magickal, supportive, or intentional?
You don't have to force yourself into a new seasonal routine. Just start paying attention. Sometimes the magick begins there.
I hope you'll join me for one--or both!--of these September classes, and if you can't make it live, remember that your replay will be waiting for you.
Thanks for being here at The Village Grimoire.
